This is a question that is constantly debated in the industry and there are great arguments for both sides.

We are going to explore two arguments for and against hosting corporate meetings on your incentive trip. In this post we will be focusing on just internal incentive trips, not partner/reseller trips.

Yes host corporate meetings!

-          Tax implications

-          Opportunity to have all of your company’s best in one spot for 3 days with your executive team.   Great chance to host a best practices discussion or focus group on upcoming product layout.

No, enjoy your vacation!

-          Work/Life/Balance

-          What About The Rest Of the Reps at Home??

We have found that even without hosting meetings while on your annual incentive trip, many best practices are shared between the reps at dinner events, brewery tours, cocktails parties, pool outing and golf tournaments.

If your trip is under 4 days we do not recommend any formal meetings but instead “required” social events. For those trips over 4 days you have more flexibility to add one morning of 3 hours of meetings. We do not recommend multiple days of meetings, remember this incentive trip is a prize for your reps for their hard work so let them enjoy their time away from the office and encourage them to unplug and relax.
